Government Department
I was invited by Museums Director, Kate Ayres, to visit Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) in the UAE to consult on their National Museum. With an ambitious hotel and tourism development plan already underway, they wanted to consider how the heritage offering could be developed and leveraged to attract visitors.
Over the course of the next two years, I worked with Kate and the Department of Antiquities and museums to:
- Assemble a team of specialist consultants tasked with delivering a Master Plan for the Museum
- Work alongside this team to investigate possible options to develop the cultural offering of RAK
- Recommend interpretation options including ideas for state-of-the-art VR and AR features
- Consider themes for development within the Museum
- Consider how to integrate other heritage sites in the region into a cohesive heritage tour
- Create a proposed staffing plan
- Provide guidelines for recruitment
- Help prepare a detailed plan for presentation to the head of the Government of Ras Al Khaimah
