I have worked with the National Trust on a number of their properties including:

• Upton House
• Chirk Castle
• Southwell Workhouse
• Plas Newydd­­­

Challenging ideas

This has included putting forward new ideas to challenge the existing ethos of the National Trust, for example developing a storyline and presenting it in such a way that visitors can pick up, touch and use artefacts – something that was a complete anathema a few years ago.

Targeting younger visitors

I have also advised on developing a more direct offer targeting younger visitors, creating what might be described as “NT Lite”. While this sub-brand does not visibly exist the formation of kids’ zones is now more prevalent.

Training

I also provided training for volunteers on how to devise story-led and themed guided tours around properties.
